Kline Audi R8 Rear Valvetronic Section

This is a rear valvetronic system for the Audi R8 V8 2008-2012.

Performance

Removal of the secondary catalysts from the silencer section, and addition of a completely free flow system under valve open, result in optimum efficiency from the exhaust, and some moderate power and torque gains 16hp and 22 nm power and torque gain.

The Sound

Incorporating all the regular innovations from Kline, perfect x pipe geometry for that incendiary howl we have become renowned for, as well as a valvetronic system that allows you to drive your R8 silently when cruising, yet the most intoxicating high pitched aggressive vocal when the valves open. Under valve closure the exhaust gasses are diverted through a series of chambers and acoustic sections to completely remove any cabin noise and drone, at valve open the exhaust becomes completely free flow for optimum performance and sound, the gases only passing through our trademark x pipe, to effectively raise the pitch of the exhaust note.

Materials

Kline Innovation Audi R8 exhaust is available in 304 stainless steel (19.5kg), or ultra-light weight F1 grade Inconel 625 (9.0kg).

Inconel

Inconel 625, as used in the aerospace industry where extremely durable and heat withstanding components are required, for example for the exhaust turbine blades in high performance jet engines. Inconel is also used for the manufacture of Formula1 exhausts and has also been used by some manufacturers on hypercar projects such as McLaren P1, Aston Martin 177, where lightness is a factor, and exhaust temperatures regularly exceed 1000°C.
The basic properties of Inconel are characterised by extremely high tensile strength, and extreme thermo chemical stability. Because of the high tensile strength of Inconel (roughly the same strength to weight ratio as titanium), very thin sidewall material can be used while still maintaining structural integrity, resulting in very lightweight components that will not fatigue over time. Using Inconel requires a high skill level and is a very time-consuming process which is all worthwhile for the highest quality exhaust system.

Cross Sections

All cross sections have been increased from stock by around 10% to give the best balance of torque, and increased power.
